Friend the Chief Secretary to the Treasury's statement of 11 June 1997, Official Report, columns 1143–44. The statement said that these reviews were expected to take 12 months to complete. My Department is also carrying out a review of those non-Departmental Public Bodies (NDPBs) for which the Home Office is the sponsoring Department. This review is part of a Government-wide exercise which is referred to in the Government's public consultation paper "Opening Up Quangos" issued in November 1997.
