To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security when she plans to announce her proposals to reform the residential care allowance. [23766]

Mr. Keith Bradley

The Government are undertaking a number of reviews of key policy areas, including a review of the funding of long-term care. The future payment of the Income Support Residential Allowance is included in these reviews.

It is too early in the review process to be able to give a firm commitment on when we will be ready to announce the outcome.
