§ Dr. Reid[holding answer 17 December 1997]: The annual cost of nuclear weapon transportation for financial year 1996–97 is in the order of £3 million. This figure represents the cost of maintaining and operating the convoys that transport the weapons, as well as the costs of personnel associated with this activity.
