The Chancellor of the Exchequer has asked me to reply, as the Director of the Office for National Statistics, to your recent question on employment in Tyne and Wear.Data for every sector listed in Table 3 of Labour Market Trends are available on the NOMIS database, which is accessible through the House of Commons Library. However, to represent the confidentiality of individual businesses, many of the figures would be suppressed. I suggest instead that you refer to the data for each of the five local authorities which make up Tyne and Wear at SIC92 section level. At this level of aggregation none of the data are suppressed.
