§ Angela EagleMy Department, in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry, is currently undertaking a study to look at the environmental and economic costs and benefits of tighter controls on ozone depleting substances, including a possible ban on the sale of CFCs, which may be included in proposals which the European Commission are expected to bring forward to amend EC Regulation 3093/94 on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer. We will consider the issue fully when the study is completed and in the light of discussion with European colleagues of whatever proposals the Commission bring forward.
