To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if she will list the meetings between ministers in her Department and disabled people's organisations to discuss proposals to reform the social security system. [22916]

Although benefits for sickness and disability are included in my Department's Comprehensive Spending Review, no proposals have yet been brought forward. Since the beginning of July 1997, the Secretary of State and Ministers in the Department have had 14 seminars and meetings with organisations representing disabled people. A range of issues were discussed in these meetings.

29 July 1997 Disability Reception with over 40 oraganisations representing the interests of disabled people.
30 July 1997 Seminar hosted by MENCAP, other organisations also in attendance.
31 July 1997 Meeting with Carer's National Association.
22 October 1997 Seminar hosted by MENCAP, other oraganisations also in attendance.
23 October 1997 Meeting with the National Federation of the Blind of the UK.
29 October 1997 Seminar hosted by MENCAP, other oraganisation also in attendance.
10 November 1997 Seminar with over 40 organisations representing the interests of disabled people.
26 November 1997 Meeting with the Disabled Drivers Association.
26 November 1997 Meeting with Rights Now!
9 December 1997 Meeting with Labour Party Disabled Members Group.
