§ Mr. MichaelThe Government have undertaken, once the complete ban on all handguns is in place, to take a wider look at the effectiveness of all firearms controls. No specific timescale has been set. The Government have an open mind on the question of further controls and have no preconceived ideas of any specific category of firearms. We propose to consult widely with all interested parties if further steps are considered necessary.
