To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the rate of growth in the Scottish economy for each year since 1978–79. [22410]

Output-based Gross Domestic Product (GDP(O)) in Scotland rose by an average annual rate of 1.6 per cent. between 1978 and 1995. The annual growth rates are given in the table:
