HC Deb 12 January 1998 vol 304 c46W
Mr. Brake

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how many secure cycle spaces there are in her Department. [22680]

Mr. Field

A full breakdown of secure cycle spaces in the Department is not available and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.

Such information as is available indicates that cycles could be accommodated at most locations occupied by the Department. The security of these would in the main be the responsibility of the individuals concerned.

The approximate number of designated cycle spaces available to the Department is 4,125. Of these, it is estimated that 2,750 are in areas of limited access and 1,375 are secured by the use of padlock and chain, if fitted by the cyclist.
