HC Deb 12 January 1998 vol 304 c90W
Mr. Swinney

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what arrangements with the Government of Argentina govern the importing of beef from that country; and if he will make a statement. [22191]

Mr. Rooker

Imports of beef from Argentina must be in accordance with harmonised Community rules laid down in Council Directive 64/433/EEC. Consignments of beef must also be accompanied by public health certification which conforms to the model laid down in Commission Decision 87/221/EEC. Argentina also benefits from certain concessionary tariff arrangements.
