§ Dr. ReidThe Advisory Committee on Conscientious Objectors, which is a Non-Departmental Public Body, was established by administrative action in 1970. It is responsible for advising the Secretary of State for Defence on all claims of conscientious objection to further service made by officers and other ranks of the Armed Forces whose applications for permission to retire, or to resign their commissions, or for discharge, have been refused by the Service authorities.
