§ Dr. Reid[holding answer 26 February 1998]: There are presently 41 qualified lawyers employed as Army officers in the UK, 15 in Germany and five elsewhere. The establishment is expected to increase over the next year to approximately 70, reflecting an increased workload, consequent upon changes to national and European legislation and a major reorganisation of the Army disciplinary system arising out of the Armed Forces Act 1996.
