The issue of research on this topic was raised at a recent meeting held by my noble Friend the Minister for Roads with the hon. Member for Torbay and others and representatives of the British Diabetic Association. Following that meeting we will be asking the Secretary of State's Honorary Advisory Panel on Diabetes and Driving to consider the research evidence submitted on that occasion by the BDA. We have also agreed to examine whether further information on diabetes and road accidents could be extracted from DVLA records.
