§ Ms Glenda JacksonWe have at present no plans to change the qualifying age for taking a driving test, or to restrict the speed limit for newly qualified drivers. However, we are developing a new long term strategy for road safety to achieve further casualty reductions by the year 2010 and in that context will be considering further measures aimed at reducing the current high level of accidents involving novice drivers.
