§ Mr. Chris SmithSubject to Parliamentary approval of the necessary Supplementary Estimate, the cash limit for Class X, Vote 1 will be increased by £19,169,000 from £873,953,000 to £893,122,000. This is to increase provision for assets accepted in lieu of tax; a transfer from the Board of Inland Revenue (Class XVI, Vote 4) towards the refurbishment costs of Somerset House for the housing of the Gilbert Collection; to provide for additional appropriations in aid for the Historic Royal Palaces to offset net increases in gross expenditure; and to provide for an increase in provision to meet the costs of the funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales.
The increases will be offset by transfers, savings and charges to the Reserve, and will not therefore add to the planned total of public expenditure.
