HC Deb 23 February 1998 vol 307 c52W
Mr. Baker

To ask the Parliamentary Secretary, Lord Chancellor's Department if he will list the properties and land owned by his Department which he has identified as surplus to requirements, giving in each case their estimated value. [30325]

Mr. Hoon

The Department has identified the following properties as being surplus to requirement:

  • Former Brentwood County Court
  • Former Dudley County Court Offices
  • Former Home Office Creche
  • Former Kettering County Court
  • Former Oldham County Court
  • Former Reading Crown Court
  • Former Sheffield Combined Court
  • Former Sheffield Crown Court
  • Former Swansea County Court.

In addition, there is a small amount of surplus space in one of the Departmental Headquarters buildings in Tufton Street. It is not possible to give an estimate of the value of these properties as this will depend on the circumstances of their disposal and could prejudice ongoing negotiations. For accounting purposes, surplus assets will be valued in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Resource Accounting Manual.
