HC Deb 23 February 1998 vol 307 c34W
Mr. Baker

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will list the properties and land owned by his Department which he has identified as surplus to requirements, giving in each case their estimated value. [30319]

Mr. Fatchett

This Department is reviewing the use of all its assets, including identifying assets which are surplus to requirements, as part of the Comprehensive Spending Review which will be completed this summer. Two former wireless stations in Buckinghamshire and a number of overseas properties have already been identified as surplus to requirements and put on the market. It is not possible to give an estimate of the value of these assets, as this will depend on the circumstances of their disposal. For accounting purposes, surplus assets will be valued in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Resource Accounting Manual.
