To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what is the maximum value of a loan available under the Social Fund for the purchase of(a) kitchen units, (b) carpets, (c) curtains, (d) a bed and (e) a dining table. [30790]

There is no specified maximum value for any individual item for which a budgeting or crisis loan may be given. All awards from the Social Fund are decided in accordance with Social Fund Guidance and Directions, issued by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State, a copy of which is available in the Library.
