HC Deb 23 February 1998 vol 307 cc76-7W
Ms Roseanna Cunningham

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many sudden deaths in epilepsy there have been in Scotland in each of the last 10 years, by health board area. [29947]

Mr. Galbraith

The tables show the numbers of deaths(a) where the underlying cause of death was epilepsy, and (b) where epilepsy was mentioned on the death certificate but not recorded as the underlying cause of death. In neither case is it possible to say how many of the deaths were sudden. were directed towards projects to develop football facilities for the under-12s; and if he will make a statement. [29967]

Mr. Galbraith

The Scottish Sports Council has a range of information available on sports facilities in Scotland, including provision for youth football. It is not possible, however, to identify separately facilities for, or funding from the National Lottery or elsewhere directed to, under-12 football.

Since the inception of the National Lottery the Scottish Sports Council has been allocated the following Lottery funding:

£million
Funding
1994–95 5.201
1995–96 27.265
1996–97 28.165
1997–98 (to 31/1/98) 28.070

Since 1995, football projects have been awarded £8.136 million, of which £3.750 million was awarded to national facilities, £1.189 million to regional facilities and £3.197 million to local facilities.
