To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what amount of Brazilian mahogany has been(a) acquired and (b) specified by his Department in (i) 1996 and (ii) 1997; and for what purpose. [28381]

Disaggregated information of this nature is not available. However, the Department has not knowingly acquired or specified Brazilian mahogany in any central purchasing or construction contracts in 1996 and 1997 and has a policy of giving preference to renewable natural resources wherever possible.
