§ Mr. McLeishRoad Accidents statistical returns collect information only about accidents which involve personal injury and do not include road accidents where only damage to vehicles occurs. Estimates of the numbers of injury road accidents involving motor vehicle drivers or riders with illegal alcohol levels (ie above the current drink-drive limit of 80mg per 100m1 of blood), and the numbers of casualties in such accidents, are based on the statistical returns and on separate information from Procurators Fiscal. The table provides information for the706W latest five years for which estimates are available for Scotland. Because of the uncertainty involved, each estimate is rounded to the nearest ten.
