§ Mr. Win GriffithsThe Government published its White Paper, "NHS Wales—Putting Patients First" (CM. No.3841) on 15 January. Together with the proposed reconfiguration of NHS trusts in Wales, the changes outlined in the White Paper will improve services, make NHS Wales more responsive, efficient and accountable and release £50 million over the lifetime of the current Parliament for reinvestment in direct patient care. The new arrangements will give GPs and others the opportunity to ensure that local services are tailored to the needs of local people.
