HC Deb 17 February 1998 vol 306 c531W
Mr. Vaz

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what plans he has to reduce the waiting times in(a) Bombay and (b) New Delhi for applicants for settlement. [29574]

Mr. Fatchett

Waiting times for applicants for settlement entry clearance are constantly monitored by the Entry Clearance Managers in Bombay and New Delhi. Appointments are allocated at the maximum rate consistent with the maintenance of service standards to non-settlement applications. The current waiting times at both Posts are within the maxima laid down. In the case of Right of Abode claimants, dependent relatives over 65 and special compassionate cases there is no waiting time at either Post.
