To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list the wings or units within the Prison Secure Estate containing 15 or 16-year-old young persons on remand which have been visited(a) by himself and (b) by other Ministers in his Department. [29121]

No complete, central record is kept of which parts of a particular prison have been visited by a Minister. However, Ministers have visited the following establishments which may contain 15 or 16 year old young persons on remandMy right hon. Friend the Home Secretary visited Brinsford Young Offender Institution (YOI) on 6 January and Feltham YOI on 13 February. My hon. Friend the Member for Knowsley, North and Sefton, East (Mr. Howarth) visited Feltham YOI on 10 July 1997 and Lancaster Farms YOI on 13 October 1997. My hon. Friend the Member for Cardiff, South and Penarth (Mr. Michael) visited Cardiff prison on 31 January 1998. I visited Exeter prison on 11 July and Glen Parva YOI on 30 October. I am visiting Low Newton on 20 February.
