§ The Prime MinisterI was accompanied on my official visit to Japan by:
- Mr. John Holmes—Private Secretary;
- Mr. Alastair Campbell—Chief Press Secretary;
- Mr. Phillip Barton—Assistant Private Secretary;
- plus nine No. 10 support staff providing secure communications and administrative support; one official from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office; and two officials from the Department of Trade and Industry. This is in line with support provided to previous Prime Ministers when travelling abroad.
In addition, the following leading members of the business community accompanied me, at their own expense, and took part in discussions with the Japanese on developing trade links:
