§ Mr. MilburnThe current Chairman and non-executive members were all appointed in 1996, after a recruitment exercise including local and national advertisements. The additional practice of seeking nominations for appointments to National Health Service Boards from hon. Members and local authorities was introduced in 1997. Information is not held centrally on the expenses incurred by board members, the interests they have declared or the days they have spent on board business. In 1996–97, the annual remuneration payable to the Chairman of the North Essex Health Authority was £19,285 and the non-executive board members were entitled to £5,000 each.
