To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will take steps to protect the residents of Invergordon from environmental pollution by operators at the Cromarty Firth Port; and if he will make a statement. [29225]

Primary responsibility for pollution issues within the confines of the port lies with the Cromarty Firth Port Authority. Highland Council have the power and responsibility to address problems in so far as there may be any effect on health or damage to property. The Scottish Environment Protection Agency have nevertheless had discussion with the Council in an effort to help them identify ways of resolving the situation.
