HC Deb 17 February 1998 vol 306 cc632-3W
Mr. Yeo

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if she will list for each local authority the number of households in receipt of(a) any amount of council tax benefit and (b) council tax benefit covering 100 per cent. of council tax; and if she will give the figure in each case expressed as a proportion of the total number of households in each local authority. [24520]

Mr. Keith Bradley

[holding answer 23 January 1998]: Information is not available in the format requested. Such information as is available is set out in the table "Numbers of Council Tax Benefit Recipients in England, Wales and Scotland". Copies of the table have been placed in the Library.

Most Council Tax Benefit recipients who are also in receipt of Income Support or income based Jobseeker's Allowance will, unless there are deductions for non dependants, be receiving Council Tax Benefit covering 100 per cent. of their council tax.
