There will be a full and independent evaluation of the New Deal for Lone Parents which will examine all aspects of the programme, including participation rates. The evaluation will compare the outcomes for lone parents in the New Deal for Lone Parents areas with those in the control areas where the service is not yet available, and will be published in 1999.
