HC Deb 13 February 1998 vol 306 c443W
Mr. Matthew Taylor

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment how many tenders have been(a) submitted and (b) awarded for home energy efficiency programmes under the New Deal; and in each case what is the average cost for placement. [27279]

Mr. Alan Howarth

Responsibility for the subject of the question has been delegated to the Employment Service agency under its Chief Executive. I have asked him to arrange for a reply to be given.

Letter from Leigh Lewis to Mr. Matthew Taylor, dated February 1998: The Secretary of State for Education and Employment has asked me to reply to your question about the number of tenders that have been submitted, and awarded, for home energy efficiency programmes under the New Deal. I regret that this information is not yet available because we are still in the contracting process for the New Deal. Although the New Deal started in 12 Pathfinder Districts on 5 January, full national coverage will not be in place until April. It will be some time after this before all contracts will have been signed. I am sorry I cannot be more helpful at this stage.
