§ Dr. HowellsThe total Government funding for higher education institutions in England for 1998–99 and the previous five years is given in the table. The total includes the grant to the Higher Education Funding Council for England, the grant to the Teacher Training Agency (for initial teacher training and INSET), and the public contribution to fees.
