HC Deb 12 February 1998 vol 306 c392W
Mr. Lilley

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if she will estimate the loss of revenue from raising the starting level of employers' national insurance contributions to the same level as income tax for a single person. [29191]

Mr. Denham

The estimated reduction in revenue from employer Class 1 National Insurance contributions, gross of contracted-out rebates, would be £110 million in a full year. The estimate assumes that there are no changes to the other earnings brackets for employer contributions.
