Mr. Mitchell

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, pursuant to his oral answer of 22 January 1998,Official Report, column 1132, on farmers' incomes, if he will tabulate income levels in pounds above and below the median, in octiles as a percentage of all holdings in the United Kingdom for the latest year for which figures are available and 1990, adjusted for inflation. The information is given in the table for England and Wales. Comparable information for the United Kingdom could not be provided in the time available. These figures are based on grossed up data from the 2,500 full-time farms in the Farm Business Survey.
