§ Marjorie MowlamThe Standing Advisory Commission on Human Rights raised this with me for the first time at a meeting on 4 February. SACHR have for many years been providing advice on issues beyond those set out in their statutory remit; this is a situation that has been endorsed by successive Secretaries of State. I am aware of a call from SACHR to extend the statutory base and will take their views strongly into account in any decision that I take.
