HC Deb 11 February 1998 vol 306 c215W
Ms Oona King

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many applications for(a) EEA family permits and (b) residence permits or leave to remain as the spouse of an EEA national exercising Treaty rights have been refused since 1 February 1997 on the grounds that the entry clearance officer took the view that the marriage was one of convenience. Mr. Fatchett

I have been asked to reply.

Figures on refusals of EEA family permits and residence permits or leave to remain as the spouse of an EEA national on the grounds of marriage of convenience are not available centrally and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
