§ Mr. RookerThe United States" Food and Drug Administration prohibited the use of protein derived from mammals in ruminant animal feed from 4 October 1997. Official Overseas Trade Statistics for imports from the USA of beef, beef preparations and beef offal from June 1988, when the original prohibition on the feeding of ruminant protein to ruminants in the UK came into effect, until October 1997 are set out in the following table.
