HC Deb 04 February 1998 vol 305 c660W
Mr. Corbyn

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what discussions have been held with the Government of Sudan concerning human rights and the armed conflicts in the south of the country; and if he will make a statement. [27437]

Mr. Fatchett

We regularly make our concerns known to the Government of Sudan, both in London and in Khartoum. Human rights and the civil war in Sudan are prominent in the contacts which the British Ambassador in Khartoum has with the Government of Sudan. He discussed both subjects with the Sudanese Foreign Minister when he saw him on 5 January.
