HC Deb 04 February 1998 vol 305 c651W
Mr. Corbyn

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what are his projections for the next five years of(a) local authority, (b) housing associations and (c) co-operative housing provision for each London borough. [27430]

Mr. Raynsford

The Government do not produce projections of new housing as such. Strategic Guidance for London Planning Authorities (RPG3), published in May 1996, included a London-wide figure of 234,100 households as the minimum level of housing to be provided over the period 1992–2006. This figure is broken down by Borough, but not by tenure or source of provision. RPG3 also indicates that it is for Boroughs to assess housing need in their area, including affordable housing need, and then to set out strategic policies in their Unitary Development Plans indicating how this need will be met over the plan period.
