Mr. Michael

£9 million will be available in 1998–99 to support closed circuit television (CCTV) schemes in England and Wales. The bulk of the budget will be required to see through to completion schemes which were approved prior to the General Election. There are eight schemes in this category in Wales. Crime reduction partnerships in Wales will also be able to bid for a share of at least £1 million available for new schemes under round 4 of the CCTV challenge competition which will give priority to imaginative and innovative schemes. The deadline for bids is 27 March.
