§ Mr. StrawThe Business Appointment Rules in their current form were introduced with effect from 1 April 1996. Since then, 24 applications to accept offers of employment have been approved, two of which were approved with conditions. No applications have been refused.
There have been reports of offers of employment (which did not lead to applications) from five members of staff across the Department and the agencies (but comprehensive information is not available from the Prison Service). No applications have been received in the period from staff engaged exclusively in procurement and contract work.
The variety of prospective employers is such that they do not fall into readily identifiable categories for purposes of presenting this information.
