§ Lord Falconer of ThorotonThe Government are committed to promoting equality of opportunity for men and women. The Sex Discrimination and Equal Pay Acts protect men as well as women from discrimination on grounds of sex. Because, historically, men have not suffered the same disadvantages as women, the Government do not believe that a Men's Unit is necessary.
