Legal aid is a matter for my right hon. and learned Friend the Lord Chancellor. I am advised, however, that it would be open to a person so facing charges to apply in the usual way for criminal legal aid, once he had been returned to the United Kingdom, and that any such application would be considered under Part V of the Legal Aid Act 1988.
