§ Mr. HuttonWe have received a number of representations about electro-convulsive therapy (ECT) and, in conjunction with the president of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, the Chief Medical Officer wrote to all National Health Service trusts and consultant psychiatrists in September reminding them of the need to ensure ECT is properly administered in accordance with the College of Psychiatrists' procedures and guidance described in the ECT handbook.
