§ Mr. MilburnThe table gives the number of healthcare assistants employed in each trust within the North West region, and the per cent. represented in each trust by this group of staff. These figures are based on the Department's medical and dental and non-medical workforce censuses as at 30 September 1996.
Health care assistants (HCAs) are defined as support staff who are trained, or who are undertaking training, in the various competencies related to their job through National Vocational Qualification or other local HCA training. The figures in the table exclude staff acting as unqualified nurses or therapy helpers or assistants.
