HC Deb 28 April 1998 vol 311 c86W
Mr. Brake

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions how much of the investment to be made in London Underground in the two years from April will be allocated to each of the projects mentioned in his oral statement of 20 March 1998,Official Report, columns 1539–42 and what proportion of the funding has been specifically earmarked for access projects. [39944]

Ms Glenda Jackson

As a result of the £365 million of additional funding the Deputy Prime Minister has announced, total investment in the existing network over the next two years will be around £1 billion. London Underground is currently developing the details of its investment programme, including how to accelerate its plans to improve the accessibility of the network. It is not possible at this stage to say what proportion of the additional funding will be spent on specific projects, but the programme will be designed to ensure that the benefit of the additional funding is maximised.
