HC Deb 28 April 1998 vol 311 c113W
Mr. Baker

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will list the specific issues his Department assesses to require resolution before fur farming can be made illegal. [39778]

Mr. Morley

[holding answer 27 April 1998]: Any prohibition on fur farming must be implemented in accordance with national and international law if it is to achieve its objective. We are currently considering these issues and an announcement will be made once we have decided how to proceed. There would be public consultation on any proposals for legislation to ban fur farming.
