§ Mr. DalyellTo ask the Prime Minister, pursuant to the oral answer of the Secretary of State for the Home Department of 30 March 1998,Official Report, columns 887–88, if he will discuss with each of the host countries during his forthcoming Middle East visit the extent to which (a) Lockerbie and (b) the case of WPC Yvonne Fletcher underlie United Nations sanctions against Libya. [38213]
§ The Prime Minister[holding answer 7 April 1998]: Lockerbie is an issue of the greatest importance to this Government. During my visit to the Middle East I stressed the need for progress in implementing the relevant UN Security Council Resolutions. They relate to Lockerbie, not to the murder of WPC Fletcher. That tragic case, with Lockerbie, is a major obstacle in our bilateral relations with Libya.
