§ Mr. HainTourism in Wales has enjoyed particular success in recent years and prospects look good for the future.
It is estimated that in 1997 spend by tourists in Wales will total £1.9 billion including £234 million from overseas tourists.
The European summit in June and the Rugby World Cup in 1999 provide further opportunities to raise the profile of Wales world-wide. The Wales Tourist Board in collaboration with other agencies and the Tourism Industry itself is working to ensure that Wales derives maximum benefit from these events.
