Mr. Rhodri Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will estimate the savings to his Department's expenditure on the Welsh Health Common Services Authority budget in relation to the Authority's fully repairing and insuring lease on Crickhowell House by extending the defects liability period beyond(a) 12 months, (b) 24 months, (c) 36 months and (d) 48 months. [38442]

Mr. Ron Davies

The information is not available in the form requested. The landlord has paid for all repair work during the Defects Liability Period and there has been no effect on the budget of the Welsh Health Common Services Authority who are responsible for managing the building.

Mr. Rhodri Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales for what period the defects liability period on the lease of Crickhowell House has been extended. [38443]

Mr. Ron Davies

The defects liability period has not been formally extended beyond 31 March 1998. Discussions are taking place with the landlord over the scope and length of a further extension.

Mr. Rhodri Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will place a copy in the Library of the consultancy study by Ove Arup Facades commissioned jointly by Welsh Health Common Services Authority and ABC into the water ingress problems in Crickhowell House. [38558]

Mr. Ron Davies

The Welsh Health Common Services Authority have not commissioned a study jointly with ABP or seen a report prepared by Ove Arup Facades.

Mr. Rhodri Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list the areas of the fabric of Crickhowell House which(a) have been signed off as defect-free by his Department indicating the date on which they were signed off and (b) have not been signed off as defect-free; and if he will make a statement. [38557]

Mr. Ron Davies

The information is not available in the form requested since defects are dealt with by the landlord in response to specific faults in particular locations. My Department have no responsibility for the day to day management of the building which is a matter for the Welsh Health Common Services Authority.

Mr. Rhodri Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if his Department's lease of Crickhowell House is conditional on the whole building being signed-off as defect-free. [38783]

Mr. Ron Davies

No. There are remedies contained in the lease for the rectification of defects.
