HC Deb 20 April 1998 vol 310 c428W
Mr. Willis

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what plans he has to change the regulations concerning the valuation arrangements for commercial properties which include domestic areas within the overall property. [39199]

Mr. Raynsford

None. Where a property is used for both commercial and domestic purposes, the rateable value is based only on the commercial use. It does not include the value of the property as living accommodation. This is dealt with entirely separately, through a Council Tax assessment.
